It’s the season of giving and the Christmas tradition continued at AMVC, where each December the internal staff honors the partners of AMVC by contributing to a charity. This year, the employees chose to give their collected money to St. John’s Preschool in Audubon. Each year, the charity or project varies, however, the organization who receives the contribution makes a positive difference in the community and has similar values to AMVC.

The idea to contribute to St. John’s came from an employee who attended an Audubon County 100+ Women’s Who Care meeting where she heard about St. John’s need. At the quarterly meeting, St. John’s was not chosen as the charity to receive the club’s money. The employees of AMVC recognized what a beneficial role St. John’s has played in their life or the lives of their children and felt this cause needed the generosity.

“This is a great way for us to help a resource in the community who impacts many children as well as honor the partners, said Alicia Humphrey, AMVC public relations coordinator and chair of the Christmas committee.

When the partners learned of the contribution made in their honor, they decided to match the employee’s donations going to St. John’s.

Linda Petersen, chair of St. John’s Education Board, was very gracious for the donations. The unexpected donation will be added to their tuition assistance program, for families who are unable to afford the cost to send their child to St. John’s three-year old preschool, as well as, update their toy tractors for their classroom.

The AMVC employees are humbled to be truly a part of the community and help spread some extra Christmas spirit.
