At last Friday’s home football game, the annual AMVC pork night tradition continued. AMVC employees were serving in the concession stand and grilling the meat. The night was successful because of the nearly 20 AMVC volunteers who spent their evening serving the game’s fans. In addition, AMVC supplied the pork cutlets that were served. All proceeds from the sale of the pork cutlet sandwiches went to the Wheeler Sports Boosters.
The pork industry plays a vital role in the community, and AMVC takes pride in showcasing that at the football game. The fence line leading to the ticket area was lined with posters sharing facts about pork and pig farms.
AMVC public relations coordinator, Alicia Humphrey, commented, “It’s neat to see so many employees promoting the pork industry and volunteering their time to make an impact. Giving back to the areas where our employees live and work make our communities stronger.”
The annual AMVC Pork Night is held in October during a Wheeler home game to celebrate National Pork Month with the community. In the past when hogs were raised outdoors, and October was the time hogs were traditionally marketed. Today, the month of October is an opportunity for those involved in the swine industry to connect with those who do not have a background in pig farming.
