Katie Schimmel is a regional recruiter for AMVC Management Services. She is the President of the Sheridan Events Committee in Sheridan, Indiana. She's held the position on the committee since 2018. Schimmel has helped organize the community's 4th of July Festival and other events that take place throughout the year. The group started out as organizing the 4th of July, and after receiving their non-profit status, they are establishing more events. After Schimmel organized the very large task of the event, she realized the need to establish a committee of members.
When first being handed this event by the town, I was very nervous that I wouldn’t be able to fulfill the town's high expectations. Her vision was to provide an affordable event for Sheridan, as she wanted everyone to be able to participate. Not only did the committee provide activities, entertainment, and contest for the kids, but also a time for the community to come together.
Last year was a successful year as the 4th of July had over 3,000 people in attendance.
