Crawfordsville, IN – AMVC employees proudly joined the National Pork Producers Council’s “Give-A-Ham” challenge, a social media campaign encouraging hog farmers and those involved in the industry to donate pork during the holiday season. This nationally coordinated campaign is an opportunity for pork producers to recognize and show appreciation for people and organizations at a local level.

Two AMVC sow farm employees accepted the Give-A-Ham challenge and donated to local agricultural educators at North Montgomery and Southmont High Schools. Kaitlin Agustin, AMVC Leadership Development employee at AMVC Crawfordsville, chose to donate to her former agricultural instructors at Southmont High School.

“I instantly thought of my former teachers for the Give-A-Ham donation,” says Agustin. “As a student I was involved in the Southmont FFA Chapter and my ag classes were my favorite part of school. I definitely wanted to give back to the people behind the program.”

Lexi Snedeker, AMVC Colfax assistant manager, donated to Nancy Bell, agricultural instructor at North Montgomery High School. AMVC has partnered with Nancy over the years to create educational opportunities for students to learn about modern pig farming. Recently, her animal science class took a virtual tour of one of AMVC’s sow farms.

“Educators have adapted to many challenges this year like virtual learning and rotating schedules. We wanted to thank Nancy for her continued commitment to educating future agriculturalists,” said Snedeker.

A total of six ham donations were made by AMVC employees throughout the system. Similar ham donations were made in Audubon, Creston and Carroll Iowa. AMVC, a diversified swine management company, is the ninth largest pork producer in the United States and has a swine management presence in ten states.
