Local pig farm participates in Hams Across America

Between Giving Tuesday and Christmas, pig farmers are encouraged to participate in National Pork Board’s Hams Across America program. It’s the perfect time of year for pig farmers to show their commitment to their community and to pay it forward by donating pork products to someone who deserves recognition or is in need. Noel Ornelas, assistant farrowing manager at Taurus Sow outside of Creston and current member of AMVC’s Leadership Development Program, accepted the challenge to give a ham this holiday season. Ornelas chose the Creston Food Pantry as the recipient of his donation. AMVC Management Services, a diversified swine management company, owns and manages Taurus Sow. Similar ham donations were made by AMVC employees in Iowa, Missouri and North Dakota.

The Hams Across America program was created in 2016 to honor the way pig farmers serve their communities year-round.
