High school students at Mt. Ayr High School in Mrs. Tingwald's class learned about the swine industry from Joe Clemens, manager at Aries Sow, and public relations coordinator, Alicia Humphrey. The students recently learned about housing facilities and animal welfare.
Alicia and Joe were able to get more in depth about what happens on a daily basis on the farm. They talked about the breeding and farrowing departments, biosecurity, how pig farmers are environmental stewards and explained how the industry has changed. The presentation helped students realize the impact a local farm has on feeding the world.
