In honor of National Pork Month, AMVC Management Services and Aries Sow, sponsored and served bacon at the Band Boosters' food stand during Friday night's home football game. Anyone who ordered a sandwich was able to add bacon for no additional cost, as everything is better with bacon.
AMVC employees were excited to celebrate the occasion with the Mount Ayr community.
"I take great pride in the swine industry and I enjoy having an opportunity to interact with the public," said Joe Clemens, Aries Sow farm manager.
National Pork Month is celebrated in October because it was the time of year that hogs were traditionally marketed. Today, it is a time to pig farmers to celebrate the swine industry and connect with consumers.
"It's important to promote pork in our community. I like to educate others about who their local pig farmers are and what we do to raise pork," added Clemens.
Aries Sow is a 2,500 head sow farm in Mount Ayr that is owned and managed by AMVC, a diversified swine management company based out of Audubon, Iowa. AMVC manages 115,000 sows across seven states.
