Amanda Winslow was recently named the AMVC Manager of the Year during the 1st Annual AMVC Awards Program held in Des Moines, Iowa. This award is for an individual who is an AMVC farm manager who has excelled throughout the past year.

Prescott resident, Winslow, was selected as the manager of the year from amongst eight other farm managers that were nominated by their peers. The nominations were judged by two individuals on the National Pork Board staff. All AMVC employees were eligible to nominate a fellow employee for one of the five awards given out annually.

Amanda Winslow has been an AMVC employee for nine years. She started her career as a swine specialist and over the years has moved up in the company. For the past six years, she has been the farm manager at Taurus Sow, a 5,000 head breed to wean sow farm outside of Creston.

She is very driven and motivated and was praised by her peers for her leadership and caring demeanor, “Amanda works hard not for recognition, but because she truly cares about what she is doing,” commented a nominator.

Throughout the last year, Amanda has overcome a lot of challenges. After the barn fire in May 2018, she repopulated her farm and lead her team through the farm start-up process. Today, Taurus Sow is one of the top producing sow farms in the company.

Along with the distinction of Sow Farm Manger of the Year, Winslow also received a personalized plaque, jacket and $1,000.

Winslow is married to her husband, Josh, and they have three daughters: Dakota, Cheyenne and Avalee.
