Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is for a 2nd shift late operator and would run from 6 pm to 5 am, roughly M-F. However, the schedule will be fluid as the mill evolves and work demand changes could start as early as 3:30pm.
This schedule may also vary due to workload, weather, and Holidays—possible Saturdays and Sundays.
Operate and oversee all operator areas within the mill (i.e., receiving, batching, production floor, loadout, etc.) to ensure compliance with established procedures for quality, productivity, and safety, performing the following duties in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Follows standard operating instructions/procedures in the performance of all operator areas, including flushing procedures for batching, along with record keeping.
- Work with a small team that has many tasks to manage throughout the week and is willing to learn and take responsibility for these tasks in furtherance of the team and the mill.
- Operates all area equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, forklift, etc.).
- Prepares and maintains shift activity reports, tracks production reports, sampling reports, bag dump reports, reconciliations, etc.
- Perform daily feed, bulk, and micro ingredient inventory.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance duties listed in the standard work and as requested by the supervisor.
- Maintains and ensures the safety of all employees and assets of the company.
- Maintains and ensures the orderliness and housekeeping of all areas of the feed mill.
- Responsible for filling micro-ingredients, tote system, and maintaining necessary stock at the batching areas, and receiving when needed.
- Responsible for following all environmental laws.
- Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
- Performs other duties as defined by the manager/shift supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to read and speak English.
- Basic computer skills
- Will work in wet and/or humid conditions, and around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and cold.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to frequently climb up, over, under, and around feed mill areas.
- Must be able to walk and stand on concrete and unpaved areas for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to learn and perform the different areas of the feed mill process.
- Must be able to work with and around a wide range of chemicals and different feed ingredients.
- Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a dusty environment with potentially adverse weather conditions.
- License/Certification:
- Driver's License, but class A CDL preferred
