AMVC gives ham to Audubon FFA

Between Giving Tuesday and Christmas, pig farmers are encouraged to participate in National Pork Board’s Hams Across America program. It’s the perfect time of year for pig farmers to show their commitment to their local community and to pay it forward by donating pork products to someone who deserves recognition or is in need. Dr. Jason Hocker, AMVC partner and veterinarian, accepted the industry wide challenge to give a ham this holiday season. AMVC chose Brittany Elmquist, Audubon Community Schools agriculture education instructor to receive two hams.

“Brittany continues to do an outstanding job educating our future leaders in our community. She deserves recognition for her efforts, and this was the perfect opportunity to support the pork industry and our local FFA program,” said Hocker.

Similar ham donations were made by AMVC in southern Iowa to a food pantry, in Missouri to local 4-H leaders and in southwestern North Dakota to the volunteer emergency services personnel.

The Hams Across America program was created in 2016 to honor the way pig farmers serve their communities year-round.
