Wheatland, WY – AMVC Management Services, a diversified swine management company, recently recognized employees who have achieved a career milestone with the company. Jorge Fernandez of Wheatland, who celebrated his tenth work anniversary, was among the recipients.
“It’s been a journey of learning,” says Fernandez, “And I’ve been able to meet many new people and learn from them along the way.”
Fernandez began his career with AMVC working in the breeding department at sow farm near Holly, Colorado, in 2012. Reflecting on why he chose to join AMVC, Fernandez said the opportunity for growth and development caught his attention.
Today, he is the manager of a 4,000 head sow farm near Wheatland, Wyoming, and oversees a team of 15 people. As the manager, he directs the daily tasks on the farm in both the breeding and farrowing departments. Fernandez works with his team to provide each pig with the highest quality care and meet their production goals.
After ten years in swine production, his passion for raising pigs only continues to grow. “My favorite part of my job comes at the end of each day when I walk through the farrowing rooms and check on all the new piglets born that day.”
Fernandez is a resident of Wheatland, WY, where he lives with his wife, Evely, daughter, Kenya (19), and son, Jorge Enrique (16).
AMVC Management Services is proud to employ talented and dedicated employees committed to the swine industry. AMVC, based out of Audubon, Iowa, manages 150,500 sows and is the ninth-largest pork producer in the United States. To learn more about AMVC, visit amvcms.com.
