AMVC Management Services, a diversified swine management company celebrated National Pork Month by educating local students about careers in the swine industry.

James Cole Elementary School kindergarteners were having a career week and invited local professionals into their classroom. AMVC veterinarian, Dr. Joel Sparks, D.V.M., talked to the students about what it is like to be a veterinarian and why pigs are his favorite animal wot work with.

Sparks read a storybook called a Visit to our Farm and answered several questions. As a treat for the students, Dr. Sparks also brought a piglet in for the students to see up close. The piglets received a lot of attention, as everyone got a turn to pet the piglet.

AMVC enjoys giving back to the community and providing learning opportunities for students. AMVC manages two sow farms within 15 miles of the school, where Dr. Sparks oversees the health and production of the farms. AMVC Management Services is headquartered in Audubon, Iowa, and manages 135,500 sows across ten states.
