Zoetis is honoring five exemplary pig caregivers with the 2016 Honoring Caregivers award for their contributions to the pork industry. Dave Jensen of Audubon is among the recipients that were selected from 50 nominations.

Honoring Caregivers is an award program sponsored by Zoetis that recognizes deserving pig caregivers across the country that go above and beyond to provide exceptional pig care. Winners receive a $1,000 cash prize and will be honored by Zoetis and their peers at a special awards ceremony.

An independent panel of judges reviewed the nominations and determined the five winners. Winners were chosen based on the content of the individual nomination, including the nomination’s description of how the caregiver is committed to superior pig care through proper treatment, disease prevention and pig handling.

Dave’s peers praised him in many aspects, from his animal husbandry skills to the extra effort he puts in for the welfare of his animals. As one of his nominators explains, “Dave takes the time to do things right.  His passion for keeping pigs safe and healthy is evident in everything he does.”

Dave has been an AMVC employee for over 12 years and currently is a nursery manager, where he is responsible for the day to day operation of two nurseries northeast of Audubon.

Dr. Jason Hocker, DVM, was among those who nominated Dave for the award, and reiterated Dave’s commitment to excellence and passion for individual pig care.

Hocker said, “He is the epitome of what this award represents and I appreciate the opportunity to nominate such a worthy and humble man to be a recipient of this great honor.”
