AMVC EMPLOYEES

A great company needs great employees, and we pride ourselves on hiring smart, hard-working, ambitious people. Our philosophy is that employee attitude drives the success of the company. We asked some of our stand-out employees why they chose AMVC and what makes them continue to work with us. Here are their answers, along with a little information to help you get to know them better:

Kate Olson started with AMVC in May of 2002 as a herdsperson, working in several barns throughout the system before moving up to a farrowing department lead. In early 2004, Kate joined the Management Services team as the Director of Organization Design and Development. Kate chose AMVC because she was interested in a career in pork production and liked our opportunities for advancement. Her favorite part of the job is working with the people at AMVC, their diversity and willingness to teach as well as learn. Kate graduated with Distinction from Iowa State University in May 2002 with a B.S. in Animal Science, and also serves as a Producer Education Committee member for the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Dr. Michelle Jens joined AMVC Management Services in May of 2005 as the Director of Health for Sow Production. Michelle chose AMVC because we’re a progressive company with a great business sense and we take care of our employees. She says that every time she came into our office during the interview process she was greeted with a friendly smile and thought this was a great indication that AMVC employees were nice and created a fun, relaxed working environment. Her favorite part of the job is the interaction with people in the office and barns and working to maximize health and production throughout the system. Michelle graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Animal Science in 2001 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Michelle is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA); Iowa Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA); American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV); and the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.

Eric was originally a member of the Sow Production Team and is now a Production Manager in the Grow–Finish Department. Eric chose AMVC because he knew that we had opportunity and growth potential. He also liked us because we’re a leader in our industry, we’re committed to our people and we allow employees to be decision makers. Eric enjoys the challenges of Production Management and helping farms develop ways to overcome obstacles, with the goal of creating a high performance production system.

Brian Delp started at AMVC in January 2004 as a Breeding Department Lead and is now a Breeding Department Manager.
